Short description

Introducing Dental Behaviour Support

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Caoimhin Mac Giolla Phadraig for a compelling session on Dental Behaviour Support—a field at the intersection of dentistry, psychology, and inclusive healthcare. As a specialist in Special Care Dentistry, Dr. Mac Giolla Phadraig brings a wealth of clinical experience and academic insight to the topic of managing behaviour in dental settings.

This lecture will not only explore key principles and practical techniques for supporting patients with behavioural challenges, but it will also showcase the pioneering work of the BeSIDe research project (Behaviour Support in Dentistry). Led by Dr. Mac Giolla Phadraig, BeSiDe is laying the foundations for a research-driven approach to behavioural support in dentistry—developing evidence, frameworks, and training that will shape the future of care for patients with complex needs.

Through a blend of clinical expertise and cutting-edge research, this session will offer valuable tools for dental professionals seeking to create more inclusive, compassionate, and effective care environments. Whether you’re a dentist, hygienist, or part of the wider dental team, this talk will deepen your understanding of behaviour support and inspire new ways to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
